This instrument measures gross manual dexterity, which means it considers how much control you have over your fingers and is used to generate a baseline measurement of gross motor coordination.

If you have a client with an upper limb prosthetic device the Box & Blocks Test will allow you to monitor and record improvements in their dexterity and control.

This mobility aid exerciser is a great test to administer, and has a divide to act as a basic obstacle. To find if someone has a sensory integration disorder, have them move blocks from one side of the box to another. The patient is required to take their time and do it as quickly, but safely, as possible for 60 seconds without dropping any pieces.
